Aura Flushable stoma bags are the perfect fit for Nancy and help her live her life.
Freedom to live my life – Nancy’s Story

Nancy is a former singer and active member of her local church community, where her love for music continues to inspire her. Her lifestyle has been given an incredible boost since discovering the Aura Flushable colostomy pouch, which she describes as life-changing. The newfound ease and convenience it provides has even encouraged her to apply for a passport, opening up opportunities for travel and exploration she hadn’t previously considered.
“Using the flushable pouches, really is, it’s the difference between, you know, struggling and not struggling. ”
For Nancy, switching to flushable pouches marked a significant turning point. With the old pouches, managing her colostomy often felt cumbersome and inconvenient. She recounts how, in the absence of a bin, she had to place the used pouch in a black bag, carry it in her handbag, and dispose of it at home later—a process she found frustrating and impractical. In contrast, Aura Flushable allows her to simply flush and go, saving time and eliminating the stress of carrying disposal materials. She notes how much quicker and simpler her routine has become, joking that she’s “learned to speed up” her visits to the toilet.
Nancy also appreciates the design and quality of the pouches, likening it to buying a dress where the look and feel matter. The sleek design, sheen, and well-made construction enhance her overall satisfaction and confidence. She emphasizes that using these pouches has made a world of difference, transforming her experience from one of struggle to one of ease.
Nancy: This was really a whole new outlook, when I started using these new flushable ones. It just means the difference between traipsing into the bins and being able to flush them, you know, in your loo. And it’s just, it’s just marvellous.
Nancy: With the old pouches, if there wasn’t a bin where I was, I would have to place the pouch in the black bag, and I’d have to put it in my handbag and take it home. I couldn’t think of anything else to do with it. Some people take ages in the toilet and I seem to be really quick. That’s another thing, you learn to speed up when you’re in the toilet. Before, I used to be taking ages messing about and doing… But with this now I can feel, “Oh, just take it off and drop it down.” And it seems to have speeded up the ablutions, shall we say?
Nancy: I like the look of it. I mean, that’s a lot, isn’t it? it’s like buying a dress, isn’t it? If you like the look of it, you like the colour. Well, I like the look of this. I like the sheen. I just like… I thought they were really well made. Using the flushable pouches, really is, it’s the difference between, you know, struggling and not struggling.
Nancy: Having a pouch is not the easiest thing in the world. So anything that we can be done to ease our journey, I’m going to put it that way, through this episode in our lives, it’s got to be good. So whoever thought this up thumbs-up to them.
“This was really a whole new outlook, when I started using these new flushable ones. It just means the difference between traipsing into the bins and being able to flush them, you know, in your loo.”
Nancy acknowledges that living with a colostomy isn’t always straightforward, but she firmly believes in embracing innovations that make the journey smoother. She praises those behind the flushable pouches for their thoughtful design and celebrates the freedom they’ve given her to fully participate in the activities she loves, including the exciting prospect of future travels.
