CliniSure sterile leg drainage bags are for the storage and drainage of urine during the day and are connected directly to a urinary sheath or indwelling catheter. They are designed for 5-7 days usage and then should be changed. For overnight drainage, the CliniSure leg drainage bag can be connected to a CliniSure night drainage bag.
This bag also comes with our CliniSure leg bag straps which help to secure the leg bag comfortably. The straps feature a silicone grip backing to help them stay in place. You can cut the straps if a shorter length is desired.

Our sterile leg bags have ridged connectors for a safe and secure connection, preventing leaks and accidental disconnection. The consistency through the T-tap option has a clear casing making it easy to identify the open and closed tap positions.
At CliniMed, we work hard to ensure that our products are environmentally friendly. We have made the CliniSure outer packaging as small as possible to minimise the amount of material used and have removed the use of plastic where possible.
Leg bags
Where should I attach my leg drainage bag?
CliniSure leg bags can be attached to your thigh or lower leg. It is important to choose where you intend to wear your leg bag, as this will determine whether you need a bag with a short or long tube. You should always attach your leg bag below your bladder so that the urine can flow into the bag.
Will the CliniSure leg bag be visible under my clothes?
CliniSure leg bags are designed to be discreet when worn under your clothes, so no one will know you are wearing them. For added security, you may choose to use a securement device such as CliniFix® to secure the drainage bag tubing close to your leg, in addition to the supplied leg bag straps or sleeve.
What should I do if my leg bag keeps disconnecting from my catheter or sheath?
Check that the ridged connector on the drainage bag is pushed in tightly to the catheter or sheath to ensure a secure connection. Consult your healthcare professional if it keeps disconnecting.
Can I wear my leg bag in the bath/shower?
Yes, you can wear your leg bag in the bath or shower, but make sure to keep the fabric dry by covering the drainage bag with a plastic bag. Pat the area dry with a towel – do not use talcum powder. If the leg bag straps get wet, you should replace them with dry ones and allow the wet straps to dry.
Where should I attach my night drainage bag?
Night bags are connected to your leg bag and should be attached to a stand or hanger overnight via the connector that is on the outlet of the leg bag. Ensure the drainage bags are below the level of the sheath or catheter and that they do not touch the floor. This then allows drainage through the leg bag into the night drainage bag. This minimises the risk of infection. You may hear this called a link or closed system. Sterile night bags can also be connected direct to an indwelling catheter or sheath if a larger drainage capacity is required.
Why do I need to use a drainage bag?
Your healthcare professional has recommended an indwelling catheter or urinary sheath to be used in conjunction with a drainage bag to help with moderate/heavy incontinence. Drainage bags can be useful whatever your lifestyle, but they can be particularly helpful if you want to go out or participate in activities where you will not have access to a toilet.
How do I store my CliniSure drainage bags?
Your drainage bags should be stored in a cool, dry place at between 10 – 30 degrees c.
My drainage bag is not filling with urine – what should I do?
You should check the tubing is not kinked and straighten any kinks if present. A trapped non-return valve (NRV) can also prevent urine draining into the bag, so make sure to check the valve as well. Rub the front and back of the bag, at the top where the NRV is to allow urine drainage. If the urine does not drain, please contact your healthcare professional.
How often should I empty my drainage bag?
You should empty your drainage bag into a toilet or suitable receptacle when it is either approximately half to 3/4 full or before it feels uncomfortable on your leg. Always wash your hands before and after emptying your bag and do not let the tap touch the toilet.
How often should I change my drainage bag?
The CliniSure leg bag and reusable night bag should both be changed every 5–7 days. You should change your bag sooner if it becomes discoloured, contains sediment, has an unpleasant odour or gets damaged. The CliniSure non-sterile single-use bag should be used once and then disposed of.
How should I dispose of my drainage bag after use?
You should dispose of your used drainage bag in your usual household waste. The cardboard product box, paper backing on the sterile leg and night drainage bag packaging can be recycled.
Can I use the CliniSure drainage bag with any brand of sheath or indwelling catheter?
Yes, the CliniSure drainage bags have a universal connecter and can be used with any sheath or indwelling catheter.
