Can I Get A Skin Reaction To My Stoma Bag?
The materials used in stoma bags are constantly tested and evaluated for skin friendliness but occasionally someone may react to one of the components, such as the adhesive. If you have suffered from a skin reaction the first thing you should do is check that you have not used something different in your normal routine e.g. changed your usual soap. If there is no difference in your normal procedure, you should contact your Stoma Care Nurse to review your skin and if it is a reaction to the product they will be able to help with treatment in the first instance, and a change in product longer term, to one which suits you better.A no sting barrier film like LBF forms a protective film that shields the skin from damage and provides an ideal base for the adhesion of your stoma bag. You may want to try this and see if it eases the problem.

If you had a reaction you could get in touch with your stoma nurse to have the skin reviewed. Then the stoma nurse would be able to assess whether it is a reaction to the pouch that you're having and if necessary, put you on to an alternative product that may help to remedy that reaction.
