A Fun, Interactive Day Focused on Wellbeing

Our first event of 2024 built upon the success of our inaugural event. Collaborating with SecuriCare, our sister company providing home delivery of stoma and continence products, and Welland Medical, the manufacturer and global distributor of our Aura stoma products, we created a day centered on wellbeing.

A Breath of Fresh Air: Breathing and Movements Session

We kicked off the day with an engaging Pilates session, part of our Breathing and Movements program. This hands-on session was led by Andy Hansen, who co-developed the program with Sarah Russell, a Clinical Exercise Specialist.

Andy’s passion for Pilates began after his own stoma surgery in January 2020. Through his rehabilitation work with Sarah, he became a qualified Pilates instructor, learning the clinical benefits of movement for individuals with a stoma. Pilates is highly beneficial for strengthening the core and reducing the risk of parastomal hernia, while also enhancing overall wellbeing.

Discovering the Process: How Stoma Pouches Are Made

A highlight of the day was the factory tour, where attendees saw firsthand how stoma pouches are produced. This experience is always well-received, as many people are unaware of the intricate process involved in making these essential products.

Attendees had the opportunity to exchange insights about convexity in stoma pouches with fellow clinicians. This exchange was invaluable for Welland’s Research & Development team, providing practical feedback and new ideas.

Eye opening, I appreciate the products even more, I had no idea how many people were behind the scenes manufacturing.

Expert Insights: Clinical and Commercial Perspectives

The event concluded with presentations from Caroline Rudoni, Patient and Clinical Services Director, and Moira Evans, Clinical Marketing Manager at Welland. They shared their expertise, offering both UK and global perspectives on the clinical and commercial aspects of convex product selection.

Overall, the event was a great success, offering a perfect blend of education, practical insights, and wellbeing-focused activities. We look forward to continuing this journey and hosting more such events in the future.
