Transportation of blood components (Red Book)1

Donated blood and blood components should be transported by a secure system using transit containers, packing materials and procedures which have been validated for the purpose to ensure the component surface temperature can be maintained within the correct ranges during transportation. Transport containers should be appropriately labelled and should be secure and protect components and samples from damage during transit.

For red cell components, transit containers, packing materials and procedures should have been validated to ensure the component surface temperature can be maintained between 2°C and 10°C during transportation.
 

Mini BloodPorter

  • The Mini Blood Porter® is designed for carrying small units of blood for up to 3½ hours.2
  • Smart waterproof carrying case with strong velcro fastening enclosing a Medicool, polystyrene inner moulding and lid.
  • Long shoulder strap allows hands to be free for other equipment.
  • Clear PVC window for inserting delivery data.
  • The Mini Blood Porter is available in blue only.

Plasma Porter

Plasma Porter® is a variant of one of the larger Blood Porters and its thinner walls allow for a greater carrying capacity (frozen plasma applications only).
